Say not, Why were the days which have gone by better than these?

Such a question comes not from wisdom.

 

Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof

 

In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity consider:

God also hath set the one over against the other, to the end that man should find nothing after him. 

 

It is good and fair for a man to eat and drink and to have joy in all his work under the sun,

all the days of his life which God has given him; that is his reward.
